HOW TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF CAR LED HEADLIGHT DECODING?
What causes decoding issues?
-
Different energy consumption (power): halogen headlamps consume more energy, while LED headlamps consume less energy.
-
After replacing a low-power bulb, the automotive system may detect power, current frequency, and voltage data that is inconsistent with the factory settings, resulting in a trigger for a car alarm or an abnormal light reaction. These situations are more common in advanced and European models. Some car owners who modify LED headlights for the first time may mistakenly think it is a product quality problem.
What are the common performance situations?
-
False alarms: After the LED bulb is installed, the car may show a faulty LED bulb or false alarm.
Reason: The power and current characteristics of LED bulbs are different from those of halogen bulbs.
-
Flickers or flickers frequently and abnormally.
Reason: The automotive system detects a change in current, causing the LED bulb to not work properly.
-
Extinguished or partially extinguished: The LED bulb will automatically extinguish during driving or after being on for a while; after extinguishing, it will light up again after some time.
Reason:It may be due to an unstable current or the system cannot correctly identify the LED bulb.
-
Dashboard Error: Some advanced cars may have a dashboard error after installing LED bulbs.
Reason: Due to the low power consumption of LED headlights, which are different from the bulbs of the original car, the vehicle's electronic system detects abnormalities.
-
The lights dimmed, the same on the left and right.
Reason: This phenomenon occurs due to low power.
-
High and low beams cannot be switched correctly.
Reason: This may be caused by an installed light bulb that is incompatible with the vehicle's electrical system.
The solution to the decoding problem.
-
Install decoder
Reason:The technology of the decoder is not only to increase the wattage of the LED bulbs but send a signal to the CAN bus system to the car. Most of the time the afterpart LED bulbs fail to work because their power does not reach the minimum requirement of the installed CAN bus system.
Note: The decoder is installed with positive and negative poles distinguished. There are "+" and "-" on the socket. If the positive and negative poles are inserted reversely, it will not work.
AUXBEAM has C10-Modeldecoders and C20-Model decoders respectively.
1) C10-Model decoders (Purely resistive)👉See More
-
It is equivalent to a resistor. Increase the power to match the original car's power, allowing the car to recognize it and return to normal.
2) C20-Model decoders (Capacitor plus resistor)👉See More
-
Convert the input digital signal into the corresponding analog output signal. By changing the values of capacitors and resistors, capacitor-plus-resistance decoders can achieve different decoding functions and are often used for digital-to-analog signal conversion.

Seek professional help: If you are not sure how to solve the decoding problem of LED headlights, it is best to seek the help of a professional car mechanic or a lamp modification expert.
Tips:Not all cars will experience decoding problems. AUXBEAM's lights can solve 99% of the decoding problems. Only some sensitive brands of cars are prone to decoding problems, such as Mercedes- Benz, BMW, Volvo, Dodge, Ford Fusion, Ford Focus, Ford Tiger, etc.
